Lifting Hands International is looking for an ASSISTANT DIRECTOR starting in January 2020 for our refugee center in Serres, a small town about an hour away from Thessaloniki in Northern Greece.
There, we work with a population of 1000+ yazidi refugees, providing regular aid distributions and a wide range of psycho-social services.
As Assistant Director you would work closely with the director and other assistant director to lead and empower the members of our management team and to generally ensure the health and success of our Serres programs.
The role is somewhat flexible, depending upon your precise qualifications, interests, and experience. However, your primary responsibilities will likely include :
Working with LHI senior management to assess and improve our monitoring and evaluation systems in Serres
Helping monitor and enforce budget guidelines
Leading strategic planning efforts to identify areas of improvement in our operations
Overseeing one or two of our programs together with the program manager (e.g. female friendly space, children’s friendly space, distributions, etc )
Directly managing our resident volunteers program
The ideal candidate would be someone with experience in the field of humanitarian aid who is 1) interested in helping us sustain and improve the services we offer to our refugee beneficiaries, 2) excited for the opportunity to make a large impact at a small and growing NGO, and 3) considering a future career in humanitarian aid or nonprofit work.
Can commit for at least six months
At least a year of management experience
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
Proven ability to work in a self-directed way without constant supervision
Relevant degree(s) in a related field a plus
Experience with monitoring and evaluation and / or nonprofit finances a plus
