As the User Research Manager, you will be responsible for sensory/shaving panels, user experience studies, usability tests, emotion/appeal tests and innovative behavior research tools measuring and analyzing user perception and behavior in different stages of product development.
In this role, you will mentor and manage a team of researchers and analysts. You will have an essential role aligning with our International Marketing, Design, Intellectual Property, Engineering, Industrialization, and Project Managers teams to develop superior shaving products. This position will play an integral role in understanding our users’ needs, behaviors and emotions to generate insights that will develop our strategy and guide the future of BIC Shavers product experience and innovation.
As User Research Manager, you will apply your passion for research to help drive future development by performing a wide range of leadership and operational responsibilities including the following:Provide user research directions to multiple, cross-functional projectsCross-functional state of mind – Understand the unique perspectives of Marketing, Design, Intellectual Property, Engineering and Manufacturing and work with these teams to launch products successfullyEffectively communicate research data and insights as neededProblem solver, forward thinker seeking out novel behavior research methodologies and toolsResilient with shifting priorities, ability to flex and pivot as requiredForm, track and prioritize user research requests (i.e. shaving panels, usability, emotion/appeal tests etc.). Track, articulate, and measure the impact of user researchTranslate research data and insights into clear user knowledgeCollaborate and build strong relationships with cross-functional teamsDirect and develop the User Research team, providing inspirational leadership to drive people development, attract top talent, and align capabilities with current and future business needsLeverage data analytics to make strategic product development decisionsManage the yearly budget and tactical User Research portfolioEstablish partnerships with key outside resources (suppliers, contractors, academia, etc.) to help develop further our User Research strategy
Qualifications10+ years of prior experience with product development (preferable personal care, FMCG)5+ years’ experience managing, developing and leading a user/ sensory research teamBachelor's and/or Master's degree in Sensory Science, Consumer Science, Social Sciences, Anthropology, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology or related disciplineStrong leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, career development and conflict resolutionPassion for research, strong technical background and a proven understanding of user/ sensory research processesAdvanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuringExperience with human centered design processes and methodologies (user-studies, user-research, etc.) and familiarity with making data driven decisionsExpert-level knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods, statistics and research designDynamic, flexible personality; capable of changing on-demand and innovating rapidlyVerbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organizationAbility to provide clear, insightful, and actionable research assessments
