Main Purpose :
We are recruiting an experienced data scientist to focus on applications of machine learning in our European Gas and Power Trading Businesses.
The candidate will work closely with our traders and research analysts to develop and manage a number of analytical tools to improve decision making on the trading desks.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities :
Experience of working in a commercial gas or power trading environment.
Development of forecasting models.
Machine Learning & Deep Learning methods.
Strong Python and SQL coding skills with good understanding of software engineering best practices.
Quantitative finance (futures and options pricing).
Data engineering skills such as ETL pipeline development.
AWS experience and certifications.
Computer Science / AI methods for planning and optimization.
Power stack modelling.
Data visualization with tools such as Tableau
Ability to communicate technical issues effectively with a diverse set of stakeholders across business lines and technology.
Ability to creatively apply cutting edge technology to solve commercial problems.
Development and maintenance of machine learning and other advanced analytics for Gas and Power trading desks.
Key Relationships and Department Overview :
Report to Lead Data Scientist for Energy Trading (based in Geneva) with day to day direction from Gas and Power analysts and traders.
Work closely with other Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Platform Engineers in the Data Science and Engineering Team.
The Data Science and Engineering team researches, develops and provides advanced analytics and data services to the trading business and other commercial operations at Trafigura.
It is comprised of Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Quantitative Finance experts. It is a commercialy driven, front office aligned team, that works in close partnership with the trading desks, global research and enterprise technology.
Reporting to Lead Data Scientist for Energy Trading who reports into the Chief Data Scientist (both based in Geneva office).
