Mobile Info Team is determined to work towards a future where asylum seekers and refugees in Greece have fair access to asylum and are treated with the respect their humanity deserves.
We assist families and individual asylum seekers by providing dedicated, long-term support during their asylum and family reunification cases.
We research legal and political developments relevant to migrants in Greece and Europe and disseminate information through our daily hotline and Facebook page ().
We attend sessions in community centres and refugee camps to provide up to date information on the asylum process and assist individual family reunification cases in through the process.
We also provide advocacy at different levels, including collecting testimonies on human rights abuses such as illegal push backs.
What we need : A long-term caseworker graduated in Law who can commit to working for a period of at least 6 months. Preference will be given to people who can demonstrate prior experience in asylum law or who have worked in the refugee sector.
Knowledge of the Greek refugee context is not required but would be very beneficial.
Benefit : A challenging and fulfilling work experience with beneficiaries and other actors involved in the refugee crisis in Northern Greece.
You will gain in-depth knowledge of asylum procedures in Greece and family reunification processes. As a long-term volunteer, you will be heavily involved in all aspects of our casework, have your own caseload and over time gain a higher level of responsibility.
To facilitate your time here, we are able to offer shared accommodation, basic food and after a 3 month period a stipend of 150 Euros per month.
Commitment : To be able to offer continuity to the people we support, we are looking for a commitment of at least 6 months starting in mid November 2019.
Strong preference will be given to candidates who are able to commit to longer.
