The Digital Solutions and Enablement team are accountable for the creation, configuration, launch, and support of all externally facing digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & device) products, platforms, services, and experiences, servicing all external customer types at Pfizer.

In addition, the DS&E team is accountable for our Marketing

Technology (Martech stack) inclusive of Digital Platforms,

Digital Channel Enablement, Content Integration, and

Marketing / Marketer Tools and for driving Digital Enablement within Pfizer, including Robotic Process Automation, Intelligent Assistants and Workforce Productivity tools.

The Senior Manager, Engineering Lead Web Publishing Roadmap leads a high performing DevOps oriented team delivering the code and infrastructure outputs necessary to deliver the Edison (Drupal) platform roadmap, vision & strategy.

They work alongside other platform, project and product teams, ensuring their technical deliverables on the Edison Web Publishing platform meet all applicable DSE standards on application design, testing, quality and security.

  • This role will work on our global Drupal platform, and collaborate with similar roles on related technologies within the organisation;
  • Laravel, Marketo and Mulesoft.

    You’ll need the knowledge and capability to evaluate and propose detailed solutions and implementation plans and lead a team to deliver on said roadmaps.

    You’ll work in partnership with Product Owners, business team members, support & operations, vendor delivery teams, senior leaders and stakeholders.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide deep technical knowledge and technical leadership to the Edison platform team.

    The candidate is accountable for the successful delivery of platform technical objectives and managing a team of 10-20 contract delivery resources.

    This means :

    Detailed understanding of the technical landscape, both inside and outside of Pfizer. The candidate will have demonstrable subject matter expertise in multiple of our foundational technologies / areas including Drupal 7, 8, and 9, AWS, Restful Web Services, Electron, Mulesoft.

    Whilst being recognised as a technical SME, this role requires a solid understanding of the business and is able to successfully translate this knowledge into day to day decision making.

    Ensure that the correct design and engineering decisions are made for the platform. Actively share knowledge and make decisions based on multiple inputs across the wider team and BU.

    Detail oriented, persistent, strong desire to produce quality applications focused on user experience.

    Responsible for skills management of all technical resources in the team, ensuring the talent pool is appropriate for current and future needs.

    Responsible for the management and development of continuous integration, release management, code quality and deployment capability for production applications across the platform ecosystem.

    Be a champion of innovation within the immediate and wider team, developing resources & processes to adopt innovating thinking and approach to problems.

    Embrace a DevOps mentality and ensure the model’s success, building a culture of shared responsibility and transparency leading to higher quality and far quicker delivery of output.

    Take part in the culture of measurement, learning and feedback.

    Establish close partnerships with relevant Engineering and Operations colleagues to ensure alignment in all areas of development strategy, process, operational needs, DevOps culture and other areas relevant to excellence in the asset lifecycle of assets in the portfolio.

    Leverage industry best practice and experience to ensure that security is baked into deliverables from the start and that the team fully embraces a DevSecOps and shift-left on security mentality.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

    Relevant experience as an information technology professional in roles such as a software architect and / or developer, systems engineer, computer engineer, engineering team lead, technical team lead.

    Experience managing teams including the financials of contract or colleague resources.

    Minimum of 7 years relevant experience as an information technology professional in roles such as a software architect and / or developer, systems engineer, computer engineer, engineering lead, technical team lead.

    Experience managing teams including the financials of contract or colleague resources. Developing increasing responsibility in an engineering lead related role.

    Minimum of 3 years recognized experience with Drupal (7 and 8 at minimum) with deep and broad experience working with Drupal at enterprise scale.

    Detail oriented, persistent, strong desire to produce quality applications focused on user experience.

    Demonstrable experience operating in a DevOps environment.

    Demonstrable experience of modern software engineering, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and releasing.

    Demonstrable experience of RESTful APIs, integration and microservice patterns.

    Demonstrable experience of integration patterns, data modeling, cloud development, marketing automation, native and hybrid mobile development, push notification services, CI / CD practices, and able to lead software engineers in these areas.

    Demonstrable understanding of code versioning tools such as git.

    Demonstrable understanding of object oriented programming.

    Experience with Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), GitHub an asset.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

    As above and including Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or relevant disciplines.

    Ideal candidates will be familiar with multiple of the following technologies.

    Ability to take a systematic approach to estimation of technical projects.

    Ability to lead agile development teams using SCRUM methodology.

    Excellent skills in analysis, critical thinking and planning, oral and written communication, consensus building, facilitation, negotiation and the ability to readily learn a new business area.

    Technology solutions delivery in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment a bonus.
