    Context :

    IOM is supporting the National authorities in the management of all long-term accommodation sites in mainland Greece and aims at ensuring dignified and harmonized reception standards for applicants of international protection.

    IOM is implementing activities (Site Management Support, Protection and Non-Formal Education) in partnership with a large array of Implementing Partners.

    Under the overall supervision of the Senior Project Manager, and the direct supervision of the Care and Maintenance Area Coordinator the successful candidate will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems as ensure facilities are tidy and functional.

    Core Functions / Responsibilities :

  • Perform minor fixes within the building facilities such hydraulics, electrical and / carpenters works.
  • Perform checks in the control panels and electrical wiring and be able to identify any potential damages.
  • Repair any damages in relation to hydraulics.
  • Repair any minor damages in the office’s wooden surfaces and / or walls.
  • Have knowledge and be able to install appliances and equipment.
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs etc.
  • Check and identify potential troubleshooting to equipment and systems (e.g., ventilation).
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
  • Report to the common services assistant any issues that he / she may identify.
  • Provide technical specifications for equipment and / or consumables identified as necessary for daily repairs.
  • Perform other related duties that may be assigned.
  • Required Qualifications and Experience


  • Minimum high school degree / certificate with two years of relevant work experience with minimum two years relevant experience; or
  • Degree from a technical school / college as a Plumber, Electrician, Refrigeration Technician or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
  • Experience and Skills

  • Minimum three years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Previous related experience and solid technical knowledge in plumbing and electrical systems;
  • Knowledge of general repair works;
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage;
  • Basic knowledge of standard software applications (MS Office).
  • Languages

    Fluency in English and Greek (written and oral) is required.
