Automation Software Quality Tester

Role Summary :
The Tester has responsibility for planning and executing software testing and release Services for i4’s range of Marine and Vessel software and data services.
Using structured and repeatable software processes, the tester will ensure that the software meets defined software quality targets from Product, User (usability and usefulness), Data Quality, Functional and non-Functional perspectives.
Main Responsibilities :
The work will be allocated through sprints or as part of independent release hardening tests as required. Solutions include :
Vessel and Fleet performance; including Machine Learning based models
Chartering Support
Fuel and Emissions Monitoring
Navigation Optimisation
Charts and Publications
Decision Support Analytics & Prioritisation
Drive and execute testing efforts for a range of maritime applications, including legacy desktop and modern web applications
Work closely with stakeholders (product owners, developers, expert users, and other testers) to improve Software Quality Assurance processes throughout the Software Development Lifecycle
Collaborate with testers across i4 to establish and implement best practices for Marine software
Participate in Agile development activities, attending daily stand-ups, sprint planning and sprint review meetings as required;
engaging with distributed development teams, with many colleagues working in other parts of the world and different time-zones
Use in-depth analysis of functional and non-functional specifications to determine test requirements for devops, data processing, data models, performance and front-end experience
Identify, prioritise and deliver enhancements to automated testing builds and CI / CD processes for active development projects, software patches, regression and major releases
Understand the flow of code and data between clients, partners, data providers, data pipelines, systems, APIs, and environments to build effective and end-to-end productive test automation solutions
Analyse and report reproduceable test results to stakeholders
Identify opportunities for improved software engineering structures through code quality analysis, comparative testing and testing combinations code vs DevOps options
Provide Team Leads and Managers with time estimates and deliver to these agreed timescales. Present reports on projects, arrange and lead meetings and test coverage reviews
Design and execute end-to-end automated workflow tests to ensure decision support or algorithmic calculation results match an agreed baselines over in-range and out of range data, identifying regression risks and discrepancies
Provide mentorship and assistance to colleagues on any aspect of automated test planning, execution, and automation
Build CI / CD pipelines to cater for Product features that may need to be held for bulk releases due to the need for end-client communications and training timetables
Capture and document business and platform domain knowledge to improve future productivity and efficiency of SQA activities
Reviewing and analysing system issues ensuring business and technical requirements are fully refined to determine fit to acceptance criteria
Reporting testing progress to the team communicating effectively and producing test documentation to a high standard
Assisting with functional queries that may arise from development team and users to improve the quality of the product
Perform end-to-end automated testing with appropriate care using the best-fit agreed methodology to the tasks at hand
Keep knowledge up to date of best practice in SQA and bring ideas to your work
Required Qualifications :
Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Maritime / Naval Architecture, or any other relevant numerical / engineering subject
Minimum three (3) years of working experience in a relevant position
Understanding of help desk software as well as with customer relations and communication resulting in earning their trust and commitment
Experience of automated test frameworks such as Selenium is mandatory
Experience of CI / CD and code / version control such as Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket is mandatory
Excellent command (written and oral) in English language
Preferred but not required :
ISTB certification will be considered an asset
Previous experience within maritime industry is highly preferred
Graphical user interface testing, map testing and localisation testing would be an advantage
In depth knowledge of JSON data structures and API tools such as Postman would be an advantage
Experience with Azure DevOps and Azure Test Plans / Jenkins, or other bug tracking and test case management software, would be a distinct advantage
Experience with TDD, BDD, Gherkin, Cucumber or other frameworks or tools would be a distinct advantage; particularly the automation opportunities
ISTQB Foundation level or equivalent certification would be an advantage
Experience with Python, C++, C# / .Net, or Fortran would be an advantage
Experience with FE testing techniques in HTTP, XMP, Javascript, HTML, React and React Native would be an advantage
Experience with Power BI, DAX, Azure Analytics Services would be an advantage
Experience of databases and SQL / no-SQL functionality, particularly on Azure, would be an advantage
Experience of testing in Data Science and Machine Learning solutions, would be an advantage
Experience of AI based test tools or aptitude & attitude for using ML / Data Science methods to test software would be a distinct advantage
