1.Background

The Danish Refugee Council initiated its activities in the island of Lesvos in November 2015 due to the unprecedented influx of asylum seekers.

Following new political developments and displacement dynamics in early 2016, DRC expanded its activities to the mainland to support the people living in several sites across the country.

With offices in Athens, Larissa and Thessaloniki, it currently implements a wide range of activities, including Site Management Support, legal assistance, identification of individual needs and protection of highly vulnerable persons, access to services within and outside the hosting sites through cultural mediation, and non-formal education.

DRC works closely with the refugee communities, the Greek authorities and other humanitarian actors to ensure a protective environment for refugees and asylum seekers in Greece.

2.Purpose

DRC Greece is looking to recruit a qualified, flexible and enthusiastic professional to work for its Office in Thessaloniki as Administration / Information Technology Under supervision of the Admin / HR Officer and technical line management by IT Support Officer Country Office and in close coordination with other DRC field units, the Admin / Information Technology Assistant will support and provide efficient and effective assistance to the administration and IT tasks for the DRC office in Thessaloniki, and the sites DRC operates in North Greece.

3.Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited, to the following :

IT responsibilities :

  • Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, access points printers etc.) in the Office and all the DRC Sites in North Greece.
  • Check computer hardware (SSDs, mice, keyboards etc.) to ensure functionality.
  • Install and configure appropriate software in DRC Laptops and desktops.
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance.
  • Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
  • Provide orientation and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment.
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
  • Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repair or replace parts etc.).
  • Maintain records / logs of repairs and fixes schedule in collaboration with Logistics Dept.
  • Identify computer or network equipment shortages and place orders.
  • Admin responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of administrative systems and procedures in their respective departments
  • Rove in sites within the broader area of Thessaloniki and execute administrative tasks
  • Maintain inventory records for office supplies (stationary, cleaning and kitchen supplies, toners etc.) and promptly advise department of restocking needs
  • Maintain and update contact lists
  • Review and verify bills received for facilities including utilities, maintenance, provision of standard supplies, new furniture or equipment
  • Prepare ID cards and deliver visibility items to the staff
  • Proceed with travel arrangements for staff (tickets, hotels etc)
  • Collect the annual leave forms from the camps and address to HR Officer
  • Follow up with new staff on equipment delivery and relevant forms
  • Support on training organisation
  • In collaboration with Supply Chain Department asset management and distribution
  • Support HR / Finance Department in filing / scanning of documents and any ad hoc request based on needs
  • 4.Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field is required
  • At least one year proven experience as IT Technician or relevant position is required
  • Driving license is required
  • Strong verbal and written Greek and English language skills is required
  • Administration experience in a relevant field is required
  • Certification (CCNA etc.) as IT Technician is an advantage
  • Good knowledge of internet security and Data Privacy Principles is required
  • Experience with local area network and wide area network administration is required
  • Experience with ERP systems is an advantage is required

  • 6.Terms & Conditions

  • The contract will be under the Greek Labor Law (this is a national position)
  • All allowances will be provided to the employees (Christmas, Easter, Vacation bonus)
