In this dynamic environment we are looking for Senior Professionals to join our Financial Services Risk & Regulation Advisory team in Athens

How does your work look like?

As a Senior Associate you will be working on projects for leading Greek and international financial institutions. In order to optimally support the client, you will predominantly work together with the client's experienced team members, on-site and online.

  • Senior associates are the core engine of our support to our clients working with clients through all stages of consulting projects;
  • understanding the major issues that the client is facing, structuring and performing supporting analyses, identifying creative but pragmatic options, presenting strategic recommendations, and developing plans to operationalize the agreed strategy going forward.

    You will provide advice across all aspects of risk management and regulatory compliance activities. As an example, your services might include support on the following areas :

    advise financial institutions on banking regulations, supervisory guidelines and expectations on institutions’ risk management practices and capital position

    design regulatory compliance organization optimization and transformation activities

    develop and align risk strategy with performance

    develop robust internal capital and liquidity adequacy assessment processes and Stress Testing frameworks, as well as analyze and formulate of institutions’ resolution strategy.

    help financial institutions with risk analytics and the development, deployment, and maintenance of models that are used for risk management, risk valuation, and financial / regulatory reporting purposes.

    advise on risk data aggregation framework, build their risk data strategy, optimize their risk data infrastructure, processes and systems to support reporting requirements and create the culture to become data-driven organizations.

    In addition to work for clients, you will also contribute to the business development of PwC in your area of expertise. You will develop and apply new techniques in the field of risk management, including machine learning, AI, climate risk and others.

    Hence, you continuously develop your skills in order to grow professionally.

    The role entails :

  • Assisting in the preparation of pitches and presentations;
  • Formulate proposal development efforts for client engagement opportunities;
  • Be responsible for a work stream within the project working directly with client team members

  • Delegate and guide junior member towards the efficient and timely delivery of complicated assignments;
  • Act in an organised and proactive manner to resolve issues that may arise during the course of the project;
  • Collaborate with other PwC professionals to maximise value offered to our clients;
  • Lead internal and external team and client meetings;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key client contacts;
  • Assist or advise the clients to respond to Regulatory and / or Reporting requirements;
  • Design approaches and solutions to important business problems;
  • Understand client needs and communicate effectively solutions;
  • Use a broad range of tools to design and perform data analysis and unveil insights to the client in line with the project’s goals;
  • Provide methodological advice to clients with respect to a wide range of data analytics and statistical modelling or machine learning initiatives

    What we are looking for :

    At least 4 years relevant industry or functional work experience showing strong career progression and achievement

    Experience in consultancy will be highly regarded

    Knowledge of key regulatory trends and developments, as well as an understanding of the role of regulation in the Financial Services industry

    Practical experience in one or more of the following :

  • Risk governance good practice, and the role that risk management plays in effective corporate governance;
  • Risk management framework design and implementation;
  • Risk management practices across major risk types Credit Risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Interest Rate Risk and Liquidity Risk;
  • Risk quantification methods for credit risk ( PD, LGD and EAD) ;
  • Regulatory reporting;
  • CRD, Basel requirements, EBA guidelines as well as elements of the SREP and BRRD;
  • The role of policies, procedures and processes in effective risk management; and

    The role of technology and data in effective risk management and the opportunities associated with new technological developments.

    Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex regulations

    Bachelor and Masters’ degrees from top-tier universities in Banking, Risk Management, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics or relevant discipline

    Sound understanding of data structures; excellent command of data transformations

    Excellent computer skills, a proficient user of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc.)

    Advanced working knowledge of at least one quantitative analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, Python will be highly regarded

    Working knowledge of SQL will be highly regarded

    A relevant professional qualification (CFA, ACCA, ACA, PRM, FRM) will be highly regarded

    Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

    Attention to detail is the fundamental basis of the role

    A motivated and enthusiastic professional with curiosity and creativity

    A team oriented and positive attitude, focused on collaboration with colleagues and clients at all levels

  • Client centric mind-set, commitment to provide excellent quality work and build long term client relationships;
  • Ability to express ideas verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise and professional manner, in English & in Greek.
