The Transportation Manager ensures optimal solutions are implemented to meet cost and service expectations. This includes vendor capacity analysis and performance for a defined market / range of products.
Primary owner of shipment optimization, and monitoring deliveries. Works with internal cross-functional teams and vendors to identify, develop, and implement operational improvement processes.
This role will include planning / problem solving, root cause analysis, and publishing of key performance metrics.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Builds models to understand the current transportation spend for the network and generates data analyses, presentations, and recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce the inbound operating costs
Proactively identifying needs based on forecasted volume, performance trends, and seasonal surges.
Provides guidance to vendors, distribution centers & suppliers.
Map and describe all operational issues providing an action plan by working with internal & external customers in order to achieve the best solution and to optimize the transportation flow
Responsible for vendor performance including but not limited to on-time performance, end to end visibility, and freight costs.
Manages the day to day vendor relationships.
Work closely with suppliers supply chain / transportation teams in order to ensure time effectively and on budget transformation operations
Review, develop, present, and implement process improvement opportunities / solutions.
S kills & Qualifications :
Bachelor degree in Supply Chain / Logistics etc
4+ years of related experience transportation, distribution, inventory etc management. Experience within retail organizations and / or 3PL vendors will be a plus
Detail-oriented, self-starter. Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication skills. Able to build trustworthy and win-win relations
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to deal effectively in a fast-paced environment
