Optimal HR Group on behalf of its client Elpedison, a leading Energy & Utilities multinational company, is looking to recruit an agile Purchasing Section Manager based in Thessaloniki .

The suitable professional will lead and manage the procurement activity for strategic tenders / projects in support of business winning and follows on sub-contract activities in conjunction with the operational / technical teams.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintains and enforces purchasing policies & procedures to conform to company standards
  • Provides day to day operational management and mid-long term strategic initiatives
  • Writes and evaluates specifications and invitations to tenders for order and contract assignments
  • Evaluates and compares quotes with the specifications and availability of items
  • Reviews tender process followed and prepares written recommendations department Managers and CFO
  • Negotiates for the best purchase package in terms of quality, price, terms, deliveries and services with suppliers
  • Prepares purchase orders and contracts through the company ERP system (SAP)
  • Undertakes vendor assessment, identifies opportunities to develop supply base to support existing and new product requirements and drives innovation into the business
  • Reviews contractual agreements’ overall specifications, price, and past performance of each contract prior to bid or renewal
  • Performs varying market analysis, demonstrating services and goods are procured in the most competitive possible way.
  • Prepares all relevant requested internal reports to Head of Procurement
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, minimize execution times, streamline all Source to Pay processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service to both external and internal customers
  • Leads the team of Buyers through effective coaching and development, motivating and driving a high-performance culture, setting clear expectations and supporting the team to achieve its goals
  • Maintains effective communications and develops appropriate relationships with internal and external stakeholders and becomes an advocate for Procurement
  • Establishes and maintains effective KPI’s to enable accurate measurement of performance
  • Requirements

  • BSc in Economics, Finance or in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Procurement and Category management and / or in supplier contract management
  • Experience in leading teams is needed
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Very good leadership and people management skills
  • Strong analytical mindset
  • High levels of team working spirit
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Very good user of ERP or ideally of SAP
