Our Athens hospital is seeking an experienced Cook. We are looking for your experience, knowledge and patient care skills in our Dietary Departmentwhere you will be responsible for : What You Will Be Doing :

  • Responsible for proper preparation and handling of food for patients, public and catered food service by following standard recipes, production sheets and menus to meet established quality standards and customer needs.
  • Follows recipes, production sheets and menus to prepare food for patients, public food areas and catering which meets established quality standards and customer needs.
  • Utilizes resources effectively through proper utilization of food, supplies and equipment improve budgetary performance.
  • Organize multiple tasks prioritizing work and utilizing culinary skills to properly prepare and handle food for patients, public and catered food service.
  • Maintains clean and sanitary work area utilizing appropriate resources and techniques to provide safe food in a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities of the department to improve operations and to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Provides good customer service by utilizing good communication skills and technical knowledge to ensure UT Health and departmental objectives are maintained.

    Education :

    High School Diploma or Equivalent RequiredMandatory satisfactory completion of required nutrition in-service classes

    Experience :

    1 3 years general work experience preferred1 3 years institutional food service experience requiredExcellent, positive interpersonal / communication skillsAbility to use hospital information systemMaintain filing systemAbility to read / writeAbility to follow oral and written instructionsSelf-motivated efficient work habitsWork well in a teamMake diet related decisions based on physician diet ordersAnswer telephones and provide positive customer serviceSubject to many interruptionsFrequent exposure to a variety of elements including cleaning suppliesExposure to patient with various ailments and from various socioeconomic backgrounds.

    Understand and adapts service techniques based on patient age and cultural background.

    Certification and Licensure :

    Public Health District Food Training Certificate required within six months of hire
