Your job briefly :

As our Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for the prompt preparation of a wide variety of desserts following both our standardized recipes as well as new creations of yours that will refresh our menus and engage the interest of our guests.

Your responsibilities :

  • Prepare a wide variety of cakes, cookies, pies, bread and more
  • Decorate pastries using different icings and toppings to ensure the presentation will be beautiful and exciting
  • Check and correct the flavour, presentation and temperature of sweets and bakery that are produced before and during meal times
  • Plan and organize special events, i.e. menus for weddings
  • Order the food that is required on a daily basis following all the storage and control procedures
  • Check food cost according to the budgets provided by the hotel management through creative menu planning, keeping wastage to a minimum and maintaining low levels of stock
  • Check quality of materials and condition of equipment that is used for cooking
  • Guide and motivate pastry assistants to work more efficiently
  • Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel
  • Observe hygiene as well as health & safety standards
  • Your qualifications :

  • Proven experience as Pastry Chef in a 4* or 5* property
  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Organization and leadership skills
  • In depth knowledge of hygiene standards, food preparation and baking techniques
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
  • Diploma of culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
