Our client portfolio includes government entities and global financial institutions such as HSBC and Emirates NBD.

We are now growing the team to support the expansion of our client portfolio and development of our data sharing platforms across Europe and the MENA region.

To this end, we are seeking an Accounting and Finance Associate to oversee the internal financial reporting processes, including managing, tracking and updating the accounting record system, preparing monthly reports for senior management and processing payments.

The selected candidate will need to prioritize tasks effectively, manage time and work efficiently with minimal supervision to perform their duties.

The role is on a full-time basis, based out of Athens, Greece.

Role description

The Accounting and Finance Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day financial procedures which includes managing account records, revising and updating financial reports, and preparing financial data for audits, reviews, and taxation.

While the role is based in Athens, Greece, these activities will also encompass norbloc’s operations in Stockholm, Sweden, and Dubai, UAE.

The successful candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of best practices in financial management and experience, ideally from the startup and technology sector, in order to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient account management.

They will work closely with norbloc’s internal teams such as business development and product implementation to accurately invoice clients based on completed payment milestones and ensure an up to date budget forecast based on the sales pipeline.

Weekly status updates are to be delivered to senior management, with financial reports generated on a monthly and annual basis.

Finally, the candidate is expected to be able to advise senior managers and internal departments on best practices to ensure compliance in financial regulations across the markets where norbloc is active.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation of operating budgets, financial statements, and reports on an annual and monthly basis
  • Processing requisition and other business forms, checking account balances, and approving purchases
  • Advising other departments on best practices related to fiscal and taxation procedures in the relative jurisdictions
  • Managing account records, issuing invoices, liaising with finance and procurement teams of norbloc clients, and handling payments
  • Collaborating with internal departments to reconcile any accounting discrepancies
  • Analyzing financial data and assisting with audits, reviews, and tax preparations
  • Updating financial spreadsheets and reports with the latest available data for weekly analysis and monitoring of the company cash flows
  • Reviewing existing financial policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance in Sweden, Greece and the UAE
  • Providing assistance with payroll administration across the company
  • Keeping records and documenting financial processes
  • Provide support on the administrative processes around company license issuance, employee visas and insurance in the UAE
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or in a related field
  • At least 3 years experience working as a finance associate
  • Proficiency in integrated financial management software, such as Quickbooks
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting standards, fiscal procedures, and applicable tax codes
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Great analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Superb organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Fluency in English
