We are currently looking to recruit a Design Engineer , who will be responsible for implementing complex designs of large infrastructure projects at all phases (preparation, implementation, and post-implementation).
She / He is involved in the initial concept, design, development, and management of projects in various sectors such as construction and the built environment, materials, components, machinery.
The role is part of the Group Innovation & Technology team / Technical Projects Department and is based in Athens, Greece.
Principal Accountabilities of the role :
Translates the project’s concept into a general layout by incorporating the project’s parameters, such as health & safety, operational requirements, and constructability.
Based on this layout, is responsible for providing detailed design characteristics to the project team (GI&T and BU) and external partners / consultants, focusing on operational and safety aspects of the project.
Incorporates suppliers’ / consultants’ deliverables in the project’s global model (BIM).
Ensures compatibility of design through assessment of deliverables provided by suppliers / consultants.
Identifies design clashes and communicates with relevant stakeholders (internal or external) to proceed with corrective actions.
Suggests possible design solutions, where possible.
Studying a design brief.
Develops virtual models of different designs using computer software to visualize projects (BIM).
Thinking of possible design solutions and researching whether the design will work and be cost-effective.
Assessing the usability, environmental impact, and safety of a design.
Using computer-aided design (3D CAD).
Collecting and analyzing data from the business units and identifying new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs.
Supports engineers in monitoring the project implementation (construction) by providing information derived from the model related to deliverables and timeline requirements.
Reviews modifications of design proposed by the contractor during construction and provides feedback regarding the compatibility of design, safety, and operational requirements.
Makes projects virtual presentations to project managers and clients.
Reviews overall modifications of design that occurred during construction.
Incorporates updated design in the model (as-built) to be used for effective asset utilization (maintenance, future modifications etc.).
Specialist skills / Experience :
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineer
Postgraduate studies in Building Information Modeling (BIM) will be considered as a plus
6-8 years of experience in design engineering of extensive infrastructure and industrial projects
Experience in the design of steel structures and mechanical industrial equipment
Excellent knowledge of PC skills and MS office
Good knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM software (Revit, Navisworks, Inventor etc.)
Fluency in both English & Greek (oral and written at professional corporate level)
