Job Purpose :

  • Focuses on the development and testing of standard Customer Technology (CT) solutions and product enhancements for Customers;
  • provides support for existing solutions as well as developing recommendations for improvements.

    Reports to : Manager Information Technology

    Key Activities / Accountabilities :

  • Business & IT knowledge - Develops an in depth knowledge of CT products, technology used by Customers and specific types of CT solutions (e.
  • g Main knowledge of WMS, ERP systems and EDI, including understanding of messaging layouts and EDI mapping.) Develops / maintains understanding of the roles of key functions, their process flows and inter-dependencies.

  • Problem resolution - Analyses and evaluates defined types of issues relating to CT solutions. Performs appropriate research, sometimes involving subject matter experts to determine the root cause of issues and potential solutions available.
  • Performs / co-ordinates actions needed to resolve the issue within the committed timeframe.

  • Evaluation of solutions - Provides specific types of technical advice and information to support sales / field CT in growing / retaining / closing large Customer accounts.
  • With appropriate guidance, analyses less complex requests to customise advanced CT solutions or develop product enhancements.

  • Customer care - Develops and maintains effective working relationships with customers and consistently provides high standards of customer care that take account of the customer’s cultural and operational requirements, adapting approach to take account of the specific situation and solution.
  • Technical Lead - Participates in internal CT initiatives relating to specific types of technical solutions, which may involve acting as the technical lead.
  • Includes all stages of the project from defining requirements and best methods to implement, analysing and resolving technical problems, developing and performing relevant testing etc.

    Prepares the technical and support documentation ensuring all details are accurately captured.

    The successful candidate must have the following qualifications :

  • In depth problem solving skills with the ability to systematically resolve complex technical problems with CT tools (hardware, software & communications) using advanced resolution tools and established procedures
  • Technical knowledge of p.c. architecture and networks related to at least one network operating system, security implications, device configuration.
  • Excellent p.c. and network diagnostic skills

  • Strong English language skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Good presentation skills with the ability to present scenarios / solutions to management level audiences using appropriate terminology & concepts for technical & non-technical audiences
