The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG is a joint venture company established with the purpose of planning, developing, building and operating the TAP natural gas pipeline.

TAP’s shareholding is comprised of BP (20%), SNAM (20%), SOCAR (20%), Fluxys (19%), Enagás (16%) and Axpo (5%).

TAP is the European leg of the Southern Gas Corridor, a gateway project that will transport 10 billion cubic metres (bcm / a) of new gas supplies to multiple markets in Europe.

TAP’s 878-km transportation system crossing Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea & Italy started its commercial operations.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer (MEng or PhD) to be based in Athens , Greece, travelling frequently for extended periods to the Asset facilities (compressor stations, pipeline onshore and offshore, block valves and PRT (Pipeline Receiving Terminal)), in Greece, Albania and Italy.

Your Role

  • The Electrical Engineer (MEng or PhD) after the completion of the training period, will be responsible for the timely development and implementation of General Electrical Strategies;
  • ensuring that supporting processes and systems are established to manage and optimise production, reliability and availability of TAP assets.

    Reporting directly to the Technical Asset Integrity Manager , the Electrical Engineer is accountable for providing technical assurance for the operation and maintenance of the Company’s electrical systems required for the operation of the Pipeline Receiving Terminal, Compressor Stations, Block Valve Stations, Transmission Pipeline and Control Rooms.

    The Electrical Engineer shall be the focal point and actively manage the long-term supply agreements with external energy providers ensuring a safe, cost efficient and reliable supply of external electrical power.

    The Electrical specialist shall provide oversight for contracts with vendors / suppliers of back-up electrical power generation / distribution units and associated systems.

    The Electrical Engineer will support al operating country organisations and contracted resources in addressing all technical issues connected to electrical power generation and distribution, improving performance, providing technical guidance and direction and where required lead failure investigations.

    He / she shall engage with external parties including shareholders, equipment & service providers, industry technical bodies, local electrical power supply organisations as required to drive continuous improvement.

    This is a unique professional opportunity for an Electrical Engineer who want to continue developing his / her career as a technical expert in a simulating strategic international environment, and who will travel extensively (for 1 or 2 years) across three countries to do so!

    Your Profile

  • You are passionate about Electrical Engineering in an Operations and Maintenance context for major electrical installations and you want to keep developing your career as a Lead Engineer Electrical, embracing the opportunity to play a key role in operating and maintaining our asset, a high-pressure pipeline! You have acquired at least 3 years of professional experience.
  • Field experience with electrical generation and distribution systems. Specific vendor and company training
  • Working knowledge of relevant national and international electrotechnical standards : ATEX 135 Directive, EN 50110, EN 60529, EN 60947, EN 62271
  • Technical skills : Power Protection, Electrical Isolation up to / greater than 11KV preferred, Switching, Electrical Safety Rules, Electrical protection devices and isolation, Troubleshooting techniques.
  • Safety conscious, with proven experience in equipment studies, specific risk assessments, safety case revisions, HSSE Risk Management Process including Risk Register Management
  • Experience in participating in HSEQ reviews and value improvement activities
  • Understanding of European and Country statutory and regulatory obligations
  • Working Knowledge of applicable engineering standards
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the 3 host countries (Greece, Albania, Italy), initially for extensive training purposes, then to perform Lead Engineer (Electrical) duties and inspections
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Valid driving license
