We are looking for : Software Engineer experienced with applying ETL and PostgreSQL database technologies to healthcare data.
This is an exciting opportunity to enable large-scale genomic studies among core therapeutic areas of oncology, respiratory, cardiovascular and metabolic disease.
In this role, you will work along industry experts to design, implement and deploy databases and data transformation systems to manage clinical and phenotypic records originating from a range of healthcare systems and analytical assays.
The CGR infrastructure and pipelines are cloud-based and were designed in collaboration with industry experts using AWS services.
The solution is operated by a small DevOps team to provide platform support.
The successful applicant will join a dynamic team in CGR’s multidisciplinary genomics research environment comprising of computational biologists, genome scientists, software engineers, statistical geneticists, postdoctoral researchers, disease area specialists and clinician experts.
As CGR is a global initiative with a wide network of external collaboration, this is a unique opportunity to get hands-on experience with data from healthcare systems across the world.
Responsibilities :
Architectural design, development and deployment of specialised solutions to manage and process clinical and phenotypic data using AWS services
Input to design and implementation of integration protocols across the systems operated by CGR
Integrating 3rd party software (commercial and open-source) with bespoke components to build end-toend solutions
Ensuring the high quality of the code and adherence to industry standards and best practices for all stages of software lifecycle
You might be the perfect match if you are / have :
Experience with Python or Java and PostgreSQL
Previous exposure to AWS services (Step Functions; Batch; Aurora RDS; Lambda; S3)
Knowledge of core computer science concepts (e.g. object-oriented design, memory management, algorithm implementation) and practices (e.
g. version control, agile development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, DevOps)
Moreover, we appreciate skills in these areas :
Experience using ETL frameworks (e.g. Pentaho)
Experience working with Electronic Health Records
Exposure to popular clinical and medical ontologies (e.g. ICD10, ICD11, SNOMED, MedDRA, MeSH, DSM-5)
Proven demonstrable experience in delivering robust solutions for research
