The Wireless Communications Engineer 's position requires :
active participation in projects involving design, development, integration and testing of tactical wireless communication systems & data links for Unmanned systems based on Software Defined Radio platforms.
having an active role to the radio Physical Layer modelling, prototyping, and design verification testing, with emphasis on baseband algorithmic design and implementation.
The ideal candidate should be able in due time (given the proper on-the-job training) to undertake tasks like the following :
Design, develop and verify base band algorithmic blocks being part of an integrated algorithmic chain and environment.
Setting-up accurate simulation environment test beds, such as wireless channel models, mixed signal and analog modules and RF transceivers impairments models, antenna models etc.
Bit accurate modelling and implementation of selected blocks for the target device.
Performance assessment of the signal processing blocks.
At late stages of a project, participate in Design Verification testing activities in lab and field trials for the end system.
Gradually participate in System Design tasks starting in early stages of the project and on Integration tasks after the design phase of the project.
Derive appropriate documentation as required.
Required skills :
Bachelor / University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline with justifiable knowledge on digital wireless communications theory and systems
1-5 years justifiable experience in Signal Processing and Baseband Modem algorithmic design for wireless applications using MATLAB and Simulink
Experience in C / C++ programming
Fulfilled military obligations for male candidates is an asset
Desired Skills :
Familiarity with Software Defined Radio architectures and platforms.
Familiarity with bit accurate modelling methodology for baseband algorithmic signal processing blocks
Familiarity with Model Based Design flow using Mathworks tools for co-simulation and code generation
Moreover, familiarity with one or more of the following topics is considered a plus :
Principles of Layer 2 MAC protocol functions
Cognitive radio principles and modulation classification
Channel coding algorithms and / or communications security algorithms
MIMO and / or beamforming algorithms
Experience in embedded development tools (e.g. JTAG emulators, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.)
Xilinx embedded SW development environment (Xilinx SDK / VITIS for Zynq programmable logic ARM Cortex and / or Microblaze)
Post-graduate studies in relevant technical areas
