Duties and Responsibilities
SMS Assistant responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following :
Monitoring of activities and services provision in site, to identify existing or potential gaps and report for follow-up
Develop and maintain regular contact with the community present on site as well as good maintain working relations with other humanitarian actors
Promote participatory approach to site management and service provision in the sites and support community mobilization activities with refugees
Contribute to the dissemination of information for refugees, based on agreed key messages
Participate in distributions of food and non-food items and support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for food and NFI distributions in the emergency reception sites
Community outreach in collaboration with the SMS team
Participate in population verification exercise
Provide support to Help Desk s
Support daily SMS / Site Operations activities, announcements, data collection, informing PoC of upcoming works, activities etc.
Participate in awareness raising sessions and information campaigns for activities to improve camp sanitation and organization
Continuously monitor and document the needs of the persons of concern
Participate in (joint) assessments, identify protection & other related concerns and report
Provide appropriate information to refugees and migrants regarding relevant information, services and activities available to them
Ensure the observance of the DRC Code of Conduct throughout activity implementation.
Provide translation / interpretation, as necessary.
Participate, organize, run community-based activities.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the SMS Manager and the SMS Team Leader, relevant to the achievement of DRC objectives
At least one year working experience in a related field;
Previous working experience with local or international NGOs will be considered as an advantage
Experience of community-based or community mobilization work in a humanitarian context will be considered as an advantage
High professional ethics
University degree in Refugee and Migration Studies, Social Science, Human Rights, Business Administration, or any related field will be considered as an advantage
Good verbal and written English skills are required
Working knowledge of French is required
Working knowledge of Greek and / or Arabic or Kurmanji, Sorani is is desirable.

The employee shall follow DRC instructions on safety, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and the Humanitarian Accountability Framework.
Employee should not engage in any other paid activity during the DRC contract period without prior authorization.
Employee should not engage in any activity that could harm DRC or the implementation of any project during the DRC contract period.
Employee should not give interviews to the media or publish project-related photos or other material without prior authorization.
Employee shall return all borrowed equipment for the project to DRC after the end of the contract period or upon request.
Terms and Conditions
The contract will be under the Greek Labor Law (this is a national position)
All allowances will be provided to the employees (Christmas, Easter, Vacation bonus)

The position will be based in Larisa (camps in Central Greece) and national terms and conditions apply
