Our Hotels’ team seeks to fill the position of :

Assistant Engineering Manager

Will be reporting to the Complex Director of Engineering

Duties and Responsibilities to include :

  • Assist the Director of Engineering with maintenance of all Hotel facilities and Guest Rooms, machinery, HVAC systems, fire prevention systems, and all other equipment as per maintenance roster of preventive maintenance.
  • Comply with all Local law safety regulations for building and Guest room maintenance, maintain reports, and update all required local and Marriott International reporting systems
  • Ensure employee compliance with company standards and policies and external regulations (e.g., safety, OSHA, department-specific procedures such as food standards).
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
  • Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Assist in development of disaster response protocols. Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Identify and recommend new ideas, technologies, or processes to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and / or cost-savings.
  • Maintain inventory and purchase orders log.
  • Install, maintain, perform preventative maintenance on, and recommend replacement of tools, appliances, and equipment.
  • Complete the life safety checklist, including the fire-pump run test and generator run test. Inspect fire sprinkler valves and alarm systems.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines (e.g., to identify defects).
  • Develop and maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
  • Follow Hazardous Material Management Program procedures for handling and disposing of chemicals, fertilizer, pesticides, blood borne pathogens, etc.
  • including using Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Assist in Associate Training initiatives on Health and Safety
  • Assist in preparation and running of safety drills
  • The successful candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills and attributes

  • Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree in Maintenance or a related field
  • Working permit for Engineering would be considered an Asset
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad software would be considered an Asset
  • At least 5 years of working experience in a similar position in the hospitality sector, preferably in an international, luxury environment, supervising a team of 5 or more.
  • Excellent command of the English language certified at minimum of Advanced level
  • ECDL certifications with excellent working knowledge of EXCEL
  • Strong people and project management skills
  • Problem solving skills. A can do attitude is a must.
  • Organizing skills and coordination ability
  • Analytical, numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Interpersonal communication skills, integrity and commitment
