Job Overview and Responsibilities
Lead the technical activities to maintain and develop sales at existing and new accounts in Africa.
Capture profitable growth opportunities in new mines business in the region.
Provide technical support and guidance to the sales team to capture profitable growth via geographic expansion.
Create, develop and maintain appropriate contacts with the various stakeholders in the region (Mining companies, Engineering Houses, Metallurgical Laboratories and Consultants) to promote all Solvay products, existing and NPI initiatives.
Ensure that Solvay secures preferred supplier status at the various consultancies (Engineering Houses and Metallurgical Laboratories).
Develop and maintain full knowledge of the entire product portfoglio, i.e. frothers, collectors and modifiers and train local team appropriately.
Deliver sales and MI levels at targeted new mine prospects.
Support global New Mine team for new mine prospects that are based in Africa.
Fully document and communicate all relevant customer activity through the Call reports, Technical reports, Account plans and Monthly reports.
Promote Solvay reagent technology and train key Mining companies, Metallurgical Labs, and Engineering Houses through conducting appropriate Technical seminars.
Participate in Global technical programs and liaise with appropriate functions to implement all the above activities.
Education and Experience
Bachelor in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or similar relevant engineering discipline
Ideally 10 to 20 year experience in various positions in Mines, Engineering houses and / or Sales and Technical support for Mining Chemical manufacturer
High level of technical competency (metallurgy / mineral processing), strong commercial acumen (sales skills), and interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for the role
Mastery-level skills and knowledge in mineral processing and flotation process
High-level skills and knowledge of reagent selection and applications in flotation process
High-level skills in technical sales, ability to develop and implement account plans
Candidate must be a self-motivator with skills in problem solving, time management, leadership / influencing and interpersonal skills.
Able to operate in a global / virtual organization, with reporting lines out of the region while working closely with the workforce on the continent.
Strong team player with focus on compliance to company policies.
Excellent English skills are essential. Knowledge of Spanish and / or Portuguese is a strong asset.
